Duties:
The Community Relations Specialist is a new position responsible for increasing awareness and public approval of our progressive Park District through:
- increased and improved communications
- public relations programs and events
- serving as liaison to local, governmental and business community
This position will research and identify needs, develop, implement and evaluate communications and public relations programs, and report on performance. This individual must pursue trends and innovations in technoloy as it relates to print and electronic communications. This position will work cooperatively with other departments to achieve communication and organizational goals.
Qualifications
This highly visible position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong knowledge of marketing communications/public relations principles and techniques; a proactive nature; and an absolute need to have fun at work. Must be self-motivated, enjoy a fun, active and exciting work environment, love to work with people, have exceptional communication skills, organized and able to handle multiple tasks.
- BA/BS in related field required
- 5 years of applicable experience
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License
Recreation Supervisor – Aquatics & Adult Sports
Salary & Benefits: $36,000-$40,000 (DOQ)

Duties:
The Recreation Supervisor will manage all operations for our outdoor water park, Coral Cove. They must possess strong leadership skills which are necessary in the recruitment, hiring and training of over 120 water park staff including lifeguards, team leaders and coordinators. In addition, the Recretion Supervisor will oversee swim lessons, swim team, special events and initiate innovative ideas and concepts that will increase participation, memberships and retention of pool users. The Supervisor will also oversee the District’s Adult Sports Programs including authority to, initiate, plan, promote, evaluate and expand multiple adult sports programs including leagues, events & tournaments.
Qualifications:
We are seeking an outgoing, self-motivated candidate with excellent inter-personal communication, and computer skills – all which are critical for success in our fast paced District. Candidate should have an excellent knowledge of aquatics, and parks & recreation and be willing to work as part of an energetic recreation staff. Candidate must have a strong ability to lead part time staff, manage multiple priorities and tasks, be team-oriented, a self-starter, and have exceptional organization and time management skills. Experience in Adult Sports League management is also preferred. This position will require the ability to work a variety of hours including some evenings and weekends, with minimal supervision.
- BS/BA in Recreation or related field, and a minimum 3 years experience in water park management.
- AFO/CPO Certification; Starfish Instructor Certification;
- CPRP Preferred
- Candidate must also have a valid Illinois Driver’s License.
