Program

2014-2015 Preschool Registration Now Open!

Registration for 2014-2015 school year and summer preschool can be completed at Fountain View Recreation Center or Simkus Recreation Center.

Our preschool program is one of the most affordable preschool programs in the area. Age Appropriate: Programs tailored to each age group, with age centered structured classes for 2 1/2 year old, 3 year old, 4 year old, and the more advanced 4 year old.  Structured Lessons: The park district preschool program curriculum is both educational and recreational, which aids in social, physical, intellectual and emotional growth. Our curriculum helps children develop pre-kindergarten skills such as:

  • Letter and name recognition
  • Listening
  • Health habits
  • Cooperative play
  • Fine motor skills
  • Socialization skills

Our program follows the D93 calendar from September-May.

Preschool Prep

Designed for children that miss the age requirement for our regular preschool program. This program is designed to help build the bridge to our preschool program and provides an opportunity for 2 ½ -3 year olds to enhance their social, physical and creative development.  Children will learn through play and emphasis will be placed on becoming comfortable in a classroom environment. Children must be 2 ½ years old. Meets twice a week (Tues. & Thurs. or Wed. & Fri.), 1 1/2 hour class length.

3-Year Old Program

Designed for your child’s first learning experience and to prepare them to naturally transition to the 4-year old program. Our program will stress social skills, colors, shapes, fine motor skills, name recognition, following directions, sharing and cooperative play. Children will explore their community through local field trips. Children must be 3 years old by September 1. Two days per week (Tues. & Thurs.), or three days per week (M,W,F), 2 hour class length.

4-Year Old Program

Designed to help your child develop readiness skills for kindergarten. Our program will stress the development of independence and academic skills through learning centers, structured activities, math concepts, lower case letters and letter sound recognition. Children will explore their community through local field trips. Children must be 4 years old by September 1. Three day per week (Mon., Wed. & Fri.), or four days per week (M,W,Th,F), 2 hour class length.

Kindergarten Readiness

Designed for the more advanced,  4-year old with minimum one year of preschool experience. Children will prepare for kindergarten curriculum and develop self-confidence as they focus on beginning writing skills, story comprehension, math concepts, scientific problem solving and story dictation.  Children will explore their community through local field trips. Children must be 4 years old by June 1. Meets five days per week (Monday-Friday), 2  hour class length.

Extra-Curricular Learning-NEW beginning January 2014

This class is for children currently enrolled in the Carol Stream Park District Preschool Program. Students bring a snack and join us for extracurricular learning activities! After enjoying their snack together, children will participate in free play and learning activities. Check out the program guide for offered classes!

Payment Information

  • Registration may be paid in full or sign-up for EZ Pay electronic withdrawl. Drop off payments are not permitted.
  • EZ Pay: current month and last month payment is due in full at the time of registration.

Preschool registration fee includes discounts for school holidays, breaks and non-attendance days (our program follows the District 93 school calendar). Field Trips are an additional fee. Field Trip information and fees will be provided throughout the school year.

Preschool Facility

The Park District Preschool program is held at Elk Trail Recreation Center. The facility includes five classrooms. Each classroom exits out to a playground with a variety of playground equipment. The site overlooks Mitchell Lakes. Observation of Preschool program is by appointment only September-May. Elk Trail Recreation Center is located at 160 West Elk Trail, Carol Stream, IL 60188. Upcoming Field Trip Information

3 Year Old, 4 Year Old and Pathway to Kindergarten classes will take local field trips throughout the school year. Field trips may require a small fee. Advance notice of scheduled field trips and will be provided. Parent/Guardian is required to provide transportation to and from the field trip destination.  Attendance is not required on field trip days;  the program will not be prorated for registrants not in attendance.

  • Cosley Zoo: Registration Form (Deadline-April 8)

NEW Early Drop-Off Program for Next Year!

We are excited to announce that the Carol Stream Park District Preschool will be offering a new Early Drop-Off program for students enrolled in the 2014-2015 3-Year Old and 4-Year Old morning preschool classes.

Parents can register to drop their students off at Elk Trail Recreation Center up to 1 Hour before their scheduled class start-time. Students will enjoy free play, arts and crafts and games before heading down the hall for their preschool class!
