The Carol Stream Park District was awarded the Earth Flag on Monday, Sept 13 in recognition of its earth-friendly practices.
To achieve the Earth Flag certification the park district had to pass an environmental audit by the SCARCE organization and implement several new green initiatives. These included adding over 100 new recycling bins to the parks, creating new policies to reduce paper, energy and fuel use, and increasing the number of nature and green-based activities for residents.
