The bright yellow coloring of these small birds makes them easy to identify – although in the winter the male birds molt and become an olive color. Goldfinches are social birds and are often seen in large flocks. Goldfinches are seed eaters and are attracted to birdfeeders, and can be spotted in fields and meadows where weeds grow.
