You’ll find lots of earth-friendly ideas, food, projects & products at the Carol Stream Earth Day Festival & Farmers’ Market, returning April 26 2014.  Admission to the festival is free.

Festival Highlights for 2014 will include:

The first 300 visitors at the Earth Day Festival will receive a free reusable tote bag courtesy of Flood Brothers Disposal & Recycling.

Rotary Club of Carol Stream will be collecting the following items for recycling and local redistribution: Books, Wheelchairs. Crutches, Canes, Walkers, and Books. Enter the main parking lot by the Arch at Town Center and follow signs to the collection point.

District 93
Information on the District’s green campaigns including their Kilowatt Reduction Campaign, Paper Reduction Campaign,  and their new environmentally friendly Early Childhood Center.

Kids Craft Corner Sponsored by: Home Depot
Learn about the basics of wood working by making a small project on site with Team Depot. Projects will be limited, so please come early to get a spot at the “workbench.”

DuPage Forest Preserve Family Expeditions
Learn about the benefits of landscaping with native plants.

The Bartlett Nature Center
Come and see live animals and Nature Collections and Displays.

Rain Barrels For Sale
Repurposed rain barrels and composters will be available for sale. The barrels are Food Quality High Density Poly Ethylene Barrels that were previously used to ship pickled food overseas. Get up close and personal with a Red Hawk and a Barn Owl from The Northern Illinois Raptor Center.

The NICOR Gas Energy Efficiency Program offers ideas and tools to help NICOR Gas customers save energy and money.

Glenbard North High School Green Panthers
Come by and view the Student Ecology Projects. They will also be selling counter top composters.

Carol Stream Woman’s Club will be selling coffee and hot chocolate. $1.00 per Cup. Proceeds to benefit the Carol Stream Parks Foundation.
Scooby’s will be selling hotdogs, chips and drinks.

Cool City Carol Stream
Learn about the Cool Cities initiative and how to get involved in your community.

Hanover Park Environmental Committee  
Learn about keeping bees at the public apiary as well as information on the Environmental Committee’s various projects, and special recycling options.

The Conservation Foundation will be selling Rain barrels for pick up at the Festival.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit the DuPage Conservation Foundation. Click here for details.

Grab your reusable bags! You’re going to need them. Hand crafted gifts, fresh local, organic food and eco-friendly products and services- most items made or grown within 100 miles of Carol Stream, will be available for purchase from over 40 vendors in our market!
