Watts Down Program
District staff are inventorying the usage of all electronic equipment throughout the district. Lighting needs in all facilities is also being studied. A plan is being developed to reduce electricity use by 10% by the end of the year.
Lower Energy Lighting
Energy use in Simkus Recreation Center, Evergreen Gym and the Coral Cove Water Park has already been reduced with the installation of low energy lighting.

Fleet Conversion
The park district replaced some of its park vehicles with higher efficiency vehicles last year.
No-Idling Policy
Park district staff do not allow engines to run in any vehicle while parked for more than 60 seconds. This saves fuel and reduces emissions.
