Meeting Minutes, January 10, 2011
- Call to order
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 PM.
- Roll call
Present: Commissioners Bird, Powers, Sokolowski, Ullman and Schauer.
Absent: Commissioner Cooney
Commissioner Gramann arrived to the meeting at 6:30pm.
Also attending: Representatives of Hitchcock Design Group, PMO Steve Ravanesi.
- New business
- Executive Director Arnie Biondo reviewed with the committee the 2010 master plan for McCaslin Park and all the proposed amenities. These amenities include; wagon wheel five baseball field hub, restroom /concession stand building, basketball courts, maintenance building, paths, sand volleyball courts, picnic shelters, multipurpose sports field, splash park, batting cages, golf practice area, additional parking and fishing piers.
- Hitchcock Design Group presented the park amenities that they felt would fit into the 3.3 million dollar budget. The amenities included; four 300ft lighted synthetic infield baseball fields, a road connecting Wheaton Bible Church, paths that would serve the ball fields and grading and restoration of the multipurpose field in the southeast corner of the park.
- Executive Director Arnie Biondo led the committee in an exercise to determine the “Must Haves, Wants and Alternates”. The committee determined the “Must Haves” as; water and sewer, concession stand, four lighted fields with synthetic infields, access to Wheaton Bible Church parking lot, warm up area for pitchers next to the baseball fields, graded seeded and lighted multipurpose fields and picnic shelters. The “Wants” were irrigation, a warm up area and an area to serve alcohol. The “Alternates” were skinned infields (if synthetic was too costly) a fifth field and lights on the southeast multipurpose fields.
