Age Appropriate: Our programs are tailored to each age group. Classes include Pathway to Preschool for 2 1/2 year olds, 3 year old Preschool, 4 year old Preschool, and Pathway to Kindergarten for more advanced 4 year olds.

Structured Classes: Our preschool program curriculum reflects the Illinois Learning Standards and helps children develop pre-kindergarten skills including letter and name recognition, listening, health habits, cooperative play, fine motor skills and socialization skills. The classes are structured around academic and holiday themes that will enhance learning and fun.

Pathway to Preschool

The Pathway to Preschool Program is designed for children that miss the age requirement for our regular preschool program. This program is designed to help build the bridge to our preschool program and provides an opportunity for 2 ½ -3 year olds to enhance their social, physical and creative development.  Children will learn through play and emphasis will be placed on becoming comfortable in a classroom environment. Children must be 2 ½ years old.

3 Year-Old Program

The 3-year old program is designed for your child?s first learning experience and to prepare them to naturally transition to the 4-year old program. Our program will stress social skills, colors, shapes, fine motor skills, name recognition, following directions, sharing and cooperative play. Children will explore their community through local field trips. Children must be 3 years old by September 1, 2010

4 Year-Old Program

The 4-year old program is designed to help your child develop readiness skills for kindergarten. Our program will stress the development of independence and academic skills through learning centers, structured activities, math concepts, lower case letters and letter sound recognition. Children will explore their community through local field trips. Children must be 4 years old by September 1, 2010

Pathway to Kindergarten 4-Year Old Program

This five day program is especially designed for the more advanced, mature 4-year old who has had at least one year of preschool experience and turned four by June 1, 2010. Children will prepare for kindergarten curriculum and develop self-confidence as they focus on beginning writing skills, story comprehension, math concepts, scientific problem solving and story dictation.  Children will explore their community through local field trips. Children must be 4 years old by June 1, 2010

Payment Information

Monthly payments are due the first of each month for the Preschool Program. Full payment is due at registration?current month and last month. Payment amounts already include discounts for school holidays, breaks and non-attendance days (our program follows the District 93 school calendar).

All preschool registration forms must be submitted along with a copy of your child?s birth certificate (if he/she is new to our program), a current immunization form and your first payment.

 

Facility

Elk Trail Recreation Center

The Park District Preschool program is held at Elk Trail Recreation Center.

The facility includes five classrooms. Each classroom exits out to a playground with a variety of playground equipment. The site overlooks Mitchell Lakes.

Hours: Mon-Fri am-3pm
Observation of Preschool program is by appointment only
