Construction of the new recreation center remains on track. Crews have begun installation of the geothermal heating/cooling system by digging holes for pipes. The foundations are also being constructed and in April passers-by are likely to see walls going up.

The new 90,846 square foot Fountain View Recreation Center is currently under construction and is on schedule to open in August 2013.

The center also has numerous eco-friendly features, such as a geothermal heating/cooling system, and permeable pavers in the parking lot, which has enabled the center to be eligible for a grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation (ICECF). The center is expected to be rated as a LEED silver building.
