In less than one week the construction site at Carol Stream Town Center has transformed from foundations to four walls, with the new recreation center being to take shape.
The pre-fabricated concrete walls are 12 feet wide, over 40 feet tall, and weigh several tons each. These walls create the structure that will become the new gymnasium.
The new 90,846 square foot Fountain View Recreation Center is currently under construction and is on schedule to open in August 2013.

The center also has numerous eco-friendly features, such as a geothermal heating/cooling system, and permeable pavers in the parking lot, which has enabled the center to be eligible for a grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation (ICECF). The center is expected to be rated as a LEED silver building.
