Fountain View Fitness Guidelines

We’re happy we have reopened for you!

New programming, facility layouts, and procedures have been developed which keep your health and safety a top priority. We’re phasing in fitness programs and services in accordance with the latest Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), Center for Disease Control (CDC), and Restore Illinois guidelines. The following information is subject to change. Check this page and your email regularly for updates.

Operations

  • The Fitness service desk is on the first floor. Make sure you have your membership card for no-contact scanning. If you do not remember your membership card, you must show a legal form of ID to gain entry.
  • Face coverings must be worn at all times, including while engaged in individual exercise regardless of the person or machine spacing.
  • Members are asked to sanitize their hands upon arrival and to wipe down equipment and machines before and after use. You’ll notice additional sanitizing and cleaning stations throughout the building.
  • Social distancing is necessary. The facility layout, space between open machines, walking track guidelines, and more reflect our safety precautions. Refer to posted signage.
  •  Indoor group fitness classes will resume effective 1/26/2021. Face coverings required at all times.
  • Personal training is offered at the fitness center.
  • Frequent cleaning and disinfecting of the building and equipment are conducted. The facility is sanitized nightly with an electrostatic mister.
  • Do not visit the fitness center if you have been recently exposed to someone who is COVID-positive or if you have a cough, fever, fatigue, or are otherwise sick and may pose a risk to others.

 

Indoor Pools

  • The warm water pool is open.
  • Pool locker rooms remain open.
  • Towel service is suspended. Make sure you bring your own towel.
  • Lap swim is by reservation only. Reservation must be made 24 hours prior to the visit. Make Reservation

 

What we ask of our members:

  • Members must wear face coverings at all times. (Tier 1 mitigations)
  • Members should utilize hand sanitation stations upon entering and exiting the building.
  • Members with membership cards must scan on the first floor. If a member does not have their membership card, they must show a legal form of ID to gain entry.
  • Members should maintain 6 feet of distance during exercise.
  • Members should clean and sanitize equipment (e.g., weights and treadmills) before and after use.
  • Equipment should not be shared between members at the same time unless from the same household.
  • If you are sick, we ask that you stay home as a courtesy to your fellow members and Fountain View staff.

 

Modified Operations:

  • Kids Zone Closed.
  • Effective 02/01/2021 Fountain View Fitness Center will resume open gym for members only. Individuals 12-13 must have a present member/guardian. 14+ with signed waiver from parent/guardian. Face coverings required at all times.
  • Locker Rooms in the Fitness Center will reopen 1/20/21.
  • Saunas closed.
  • Towel service is suspended.
  •  Virtual classes are still available.

Fountain View Fitness Rules

Attire

Failure to dress properly results in denial to workout.

Clothing

  • Members must wear appropriate exercise attire at all times. The clothing must be for exercise purposes. Casual clothing is not allowed.
  • A shirt must be worn to cover the upper body and midriff
  • Shorts must be mid-thigh or longer.
  • No jeans, jean shorts, or any article of clothing with zippers or rivets.

Hygiene

Observe proper personal hygiene by showering regularly, wearing clean clothing, and using deodorant.


Shoes

  • Gym shoes or athletic shoes are required.
  • No open-toed shoes, open-backed shoes, boots, sandals, or casual shoes are allowed.

Equipment

Fitness members should report all equipment malfunctions immediately to the Fitness staff. Members must wipe down all equipment after use with anti-bacterial and EPA approved wipes.

Cardio Machines

  • Slow down, clear, and reset the cardio machines for the next member.

Free Weights

  • Collars are to be used at all times to secure weights on bars.
  • Weight plates are not to be leaned against equipment standards and machines.
  • After utilizing equipment, strip bars, and return plates and dumbbells to proper storage areas.
  • Safety bars must be used on squat racks, leg sled, and the Smith machine. Set the safety bars one inch lower than the lowest movement with the bar.
  • Dumbbells and weight plates must not be dropped on the floor for any reason.

Hours of operation are subject to change at any time.

Injuries

Fitness members should report all personal injuries immediately to the Fitness staff.

Personal Belongings

Fountain View Fitness is not responsible for lost or stolen personal items. 

Food and Drink

Except for capped water bottles, eating or drinking is prohibited.


Personal Belongings

No bags, coats, or personal items are allowed in the fitness center. Lockers are available for members and perimeter lockers are available for walking track only, free walking track members, and non-member fee-based class participants. Valuables should be secured in lockers. Items can not be held at the front desk.

Member Conduct

Respect the rights of others by using courteous and appropriate behavior.

  • No profane or offensive language.
  • No excessive grunting or noises.
  • No disrupting or interfering with the workout of another.

Valid Membership

  • All members, guests, and visitors must check-in upon each arrival.
  • All members must present a membership identification card before working out.
  • Lost membership cards may be replaced for a $5 fee.

 

Violations of Rules

Violations of any rule or regulation are subject to the following procedure:

  • Verbal Warning – violator informed by staff of the violation
  • Second Warning – a written warning issued to the violator
  • Third Warning – membership may be revoked

Fitness members should report all specific concerns immediately to the Fitness staff.
