Carol Stream Parks Foundation – Bike Club

We’re back and ready to ride!

The Carol Stream Parks Foundation Bike Riding Club is comprised of a group of recreational bike riders ranging in age from 17 to 72.  All rides leave from the Simkus Recreation Center on the 2nd Thursday at 6 pm and the 4th Saturday at 9 am of each month May thru October. Participate in as many rides as your schedule allows.

Rides take place on regional bike paths. We accommodate different skill levels with two ride options. For newcomers we offer a 1-hour leisure pace with a 10-miles maximum distance. For a more established rider a 2-hour medium pace and longer distance ride is available for recreational riders. No riders are ever left behind,  everyone is given a chance to catch up, drink and rest as a group before crossing major streets. Our rides include round-trips to destinations such as the Wheaton Farmer’s Market, downtown Glen Ellyn, St. James Forest Preserve, and locations in Bartlett, Medinah, Bloomingdale, West Chicago, and beyond. If interest is high, we also offer higher performance long-distance rides.

No experience needed but you need a bike and helmets are strongly encouraged. Registration fees apply, 2023 season fees are as follows: $30 for individual riders and $45 for families. This fee is tax-deductible and 100% of the proceeds go directly to the Carol Stream  Parks Foundation. Bright fluorescent Foundation Bike Club T-shirts are available for $15 at Simkus Recreation Center.

  • Group Leaders are Carol Stream residents: Larry Driscoll, and Steven Ravanesi.
