We’re beginning the process of redoing our gym floors here at Simkus Recreation Center. The renovation process will begin in about a week and is expected to take approximately eight weeks from start to finish. The previously existing gym floor has been swiftly removed as it became a safety hazard due to water and moisture damage. Unfortunately this means that the Simkus Recreation Center gym will be closed through the end of the year, fortunately once everything is installed the gym floor will be back and better than ever. We have commissioned Stalker Sports Flooring to complete this project because they are the best of the best (they’ve even installed some of your favorite team’s flooring!)…
Here’s what will be going on during the next couple of months…
We want to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to School Districts 25, 87, and 93, as well as St. Isidore Church, for helping ensure that Park District sports and activities have a home while our gym is under renovation.
We’ll keep you updated on the progress and reopening of the Simkus Recreation Center Gym, and we can’t wait to celebrate and break it in with you all in 2026!
