Slepicka Park, named after the family that farmed there since the 1940’s, was opened by the Carol Stream Park District in October 2008. It features beautiful Black Walnut trees and a historic marker — 1940’s concrete silo — which displays farm artifacts.
The park, which qualified for state grants of nearly $700,000, includes exercise stations, a picnic shelter (available to rent) with permanent game tables, bocce and baggo courts and the beginnings of a small arboretum.
The park’s path system connects to Jirsa Park.
Slepicka Homestead Park has sixteen ground level plots and six raised garden beds available to rent starting February 1 for residents/returning gardeners and March 1 for all.
Slepicka Park received an OSLAD Grant administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources—supporting major park improvements. The OSLAD Grant Program is a matching state program that helps fund the development of public open space and has supported multiple projects within the Carol Stream Park District.<!– wp:acf/parent-image-stripe-block {“name”:”acf/parent-image-stripe-block”,”data”:{“heading”:”Dance Recitals”,”_heading”:”field_6552818e9b69d”,”block_position”:”left”,”_block_position”:”field_6552812a9b69b”,”image”:36079,”_image”:”field_655281029b69a”,”icon”:”{"family" : "classic", "style" : "light", "id" : "stars", "label" : "Stars", "unicode" : "f762"}”,”_icon”:”field_655281799b69c”,”text”:”Recital dance classes run September-May. Dancers perform in the December Holiday Dance Showcase and the May Dance Recital.”,”_text”:”field_655281a99b69e”,”link”:””,”_link”:”field_655281be9b69f”,”color_scheme”:””,”_color_scheme”:”field_65bbf6013d1ee”,”primary_color”:”#d6006b”,”_primary_color”:”field_6552946e01b43″,”accent_color”:”#d69cb7″,”_accent_color”:”field_655296a36f99b”,”classes”:””,”_classes”:”field_65529722638b4″},”mode”:”edit”} /–>
