Mitchell Lakes Park

Mitchell Lakes is a linear park that includes two lakes (one adjacent to Veteran’s Park). Technically, if you map the park online, you will see that the lakes are actually part of Klein Creek (image below). There is a one-mile asphalt path that weaves around both lakes. The entire site is 23 acres and great for fishing. We encourage catch and release. A fishing license from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is required. Visitors to Fountain View Recreation Center have scenic views of the lakes from the west and northwest windows. The Park was dedicated in 1984 to Fred Mitchell who was one of the first park board commissioners, serving from 1964 to 1973.
