Carolshire Park

The Carol Stream Park District is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of Carolshire Park, located at 840 North Gary Avenue, on October 15, 2019 at 5:30 pm.

Funded by a Community Development Block Grant, the Park District is able to bring unique outdoor and safe play opportunities to a pocket park within the Carolshire/Klein Creek neighborhood.

The new park is home to the Twist – an exciting arched ladder apparatus that changes angles in different directions. The Weevos structure is designed to meet the unique physical, cognitive and social needs of young children, sparking their imaginations as they explore. A swing set has two belt swings, one bucket swing and a molded ADA swing. The playground sports a transportation theme with a trike track, street signs and gas and electric panels.

The idea for a pocket park started in 2013 when the Park District acquired the parcel of land. The District offered residents the opportunity to brainstorm ideas for what park amenities they would like to see included. At the time and until recently, children were playing in the parking lot. The Park District applied for a Community Development Block Grant through DuPage County to obtain funding to develop the park; and in the fall of 2017, an award of $200,000 was granted. The Park District matched funds. The Groundbreaking took place in May of 2019 and work progressed throughout the summer.
