Simkus Recreation Center

We’re getting new floors and carpet! We’ve been making improvements here and there at Simkus Recreation Center, but the larger project of flooring/carpets begins Monday, April 3. This project may take 2 to 3 weeks to complete. During this time access to the building will be based on where the work is being done so we are asking for your patience and flexibility. At this time we know the following entrances and front desk will be closed:

– The main (east) entrance will be closed on April 3, 4, and 5.
– The north entrance/east end will be closed on April 3, 4, and 5.
– The Front desk at Simkus will also be closed on April 3, 4, and 5.

For programs, enter Simkus at the north/west door, closest to the gymnastics room (and County Farm Road). We will keep you up to date as work progresses.

This is the current plan, but please understand that things can change. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

The Hub of Recreation Within Carol Stream

Simkus Recreation Center was named for Robert Simkus who was a Park Board Commissioner at the time that it was built and was instrumental in bringing a recreation center to Carol Stream.

The Center includes multiple classrooms for various programming throughout the year. It includes a large gymnasium that is used for programmed classes as well as open gym times and rentals.

This is one location for registering for all courses the park district offers. It is also the home of Coral Cove Water Park.

The facility has many rooms that are available for rental, from our gym that will hold up to 400 guests to a small room for a birthday party either put on by the park district or hosted on your own.
