UPDATE about Park District Activities, Programs & Facilities in cooperation with State Mitigation Requirements

Posted on November 18, 2020

Dear Residents,

The State of Illinois is tightening down mitigation requirements to prevent the rapidly increasing spread of COVID-19. In order to safeguard the residents and customers of the Carol Stream Park District, we are closely following the guidance newly released by the Illinois Department of Health (IDPH). Beginning November 20, 2020, at 12:01am, the mitigation requirements to combat this surge of COVID-19 affects the Park District as follows:

Fountain View Fitness Center

  • Operate at no more than 25% capacity
  • No indoor group fitness classes
  • Face coverings must be worn at all times, including while engaged in individual exercise regardless of person or machine spacing
  • Read all Fitness Center guidelines

Meetings, Room Rentals, Special Events

  • Meeting rooms, private party rooms and indoor special event rooms may not host gatherings

Organized group recreational activities (sports, indoor sports and activity facilities, etc.)

  • Pause all indoor group sporting and recreational activities including youth and adult recreational sports, individual personal training may remain (with facility reservation)
  • Includes park districts and travel leagues
  • Outdoor sports and recreation allowed
  • Participant groups and practices outdoors limited to 10 persons or less with social distancing
  • Face coverings required for all activities at all times

Indoor recreation

  • Indoor recreation centers close
  • Outdoor activities allowed at 25% capacity or less
  • Outdoor group activities limited to 10 persons or less, participants/guests must wear face coverings at all times

We are working diligently to keep our patrons active and both physical and mentally engaged. At this time we are figuring out ways to bring activities and programs to you yet follow the guidelines imposed upon us.  Many of these activities will be virtual. Some may be “drive-by” or outdoors when weather cooperates, while others may be activity “boxes” you may pick up and take home.  All current participants in programs will be contacted by phone or by email with the status of their program moving forward.

Our staff is full of ideas and we look forward to bringing them to you to get us through the holidays and this most recent mitigation measure. Keep looking to us. Open your emails and check social media feeds. We’ll keep you informed by email, social media and our website of any changes to our plans and facility closures. If you have concerns we can address, please feel free to call 630-784-6100 (M-F  9am-5pm) or email info@csparks.org.

The Carol Stream Park District thanks you for your patience and understanding during this challenging time. We ask that you take precautions, stay safe, and exercise kindness to others. We will forge through this. Difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations.

Respectfully,
Jim Reuter
Executive Director
