We are Excited to Reopen some Services for our Residents!

Hello Carol Stream Park District Residents:

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome you back to your park district as we slowly attempt to reopen the amenities and programs. I want you to know that our staff has been working diligently to ensure the health and safety of all participants and staff as we return to our facilities and programs. Please know that our website is continuously updated with the most current information as we progress through this; but, as always, if you have a question and can’t find the answer at csparks.org, don’t hesitate to email us at info@csparks.org or give us a call at 630-784-6100. We are here for you!

Staff has been making plans in accordance with the State’s Restore Illinois Plan. Since entering Phase 4 of the plan, we have reopened the following park district amenities:

  • Bark Park
  • Basketball Hoops
  • Bocce Courts at Barbara O’Rahilly Volunteer Park and Slepicka Park
  • Horizon Park Disc Golf
  • Inline Skate Court at Armstrong Park
  • Skate Park at Hampe Park

In addition, we are offering the following services and special programs in a “modified” manner with safety measures and protocols in place:

  • Awesome Adventure Summer Camp
  • Coyote Crossing Mini Golf
  • Outdoor Programming for some Fitness, Sports, and Special Interest (Dance, Gymnastics, other) Note: Registration for outdoor classes is limited and social distancing is required.

To see modifications being made to specific programs, such as Awesome Adventure Camp, Coyote Crossing Mini Golf, or Fountain View Fitness Center, go to those webpages at csparks.org.

The Simkus Recreation Center will ONLY be open for Awesome Adventure Camp (6/15) and a weekend indoor 3-on-3 basketball league (early July) at this time. However, the Simkus Recreation Center is opening for in-person registration starting July 6 but only between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm. The Fountain View Recreation Center will remain closed. July 6 is our tentative reopen date for the Fountain View Fitness Center. Members will receive correspondence prior to the reopen date.

Fountain View Fitness all-inclusive members were not charged for membership in April, May or June. And, because we understand that not all members may be ready to resume working out yet, we won’t be charging for July and August either. We’d like to give our fitness members time to feel comfortable with our new, modified operations that focus on the safety of our members and staff. Members can visit the Fitness Update link for more detailed information on our reopening plan along with guidelines for our new outdoor fitness classes.

Our Park District Team is prepared to adjust and make appropriate changes as are required in Phase 4-Revitalization. We are planning to bring back room rentals at the Simkus Recreation Center and rentals of park pavilions for groups of less than 50. We’re taking reservations now.

Parks and trails have remained open for walking, jogging and biking during the stay-at-home order as long as social distancing guidelines are followed; and you, the community, have been using them extensively. Playgrounds have just been reopened.

While this summer is going to be different, the Carol Stream Park District is here for your recreation needs. We will continue to work hard to keep the parks and trails clean, modify summer events and programming where possible, and continue to provide memorable experiences for your family this summer. We are excited to have you back, and thank you again for your support!

Sincerely,
Jim Reuter
Executive Director
Carol Stream Park District
